OnBeing Different

Finding a way to relate to the masses with your own originality is the most important and most difficult part of entertaining people. When you first begin to make art, whether it is music or film, you are sensitive to the idea that people might not like your work. So you battle with changing your work so other people will like it. Eventually, you realize that your best work is sometimes the stuff you were originally intimidated to share.

OnCREATIVITY

Creativity to me is freedom. At its core, it is creating something out of nothing. Everyone has a different process, but ultimately it is about finding that free flow state where the ideas just come naturally. It can be a difficult task, but continuing to persevere through writer’s block can make the end result much more worth it.

OnFRIENDSHIP

To me, it is family that you choose. It isn’t until you are older that you understand the importance of the circle you surround yourself with. I try to keep that circle small, because I really want to be able to trust my friends. In music or acting, sharing insecurities and harsh truths is everything. So having support from my friends really means a lot.

OnFAMILY

Its everything honestly. It is my motivator. It is my why. I do everything for my Mom. I learn everything from my Dad. I do everything with my brother. I don’t see that changing any time soon.

OnFAITH

I’m not overly religious, but I am spiritual. I believe that what goes around, will come around. I try to take care of those who take care of me. Faith doesn’t consume my mind every day, but I value people who are consciously trying to better themselves and treat others with a tremendous amount of respect.

OnSOCIAL MEDIA

Well, it think it is constructive and destructive. Sure, I get to see what people are doing all over the world. But what we consume is very rarely reality. So as long as you are aware of that, then it isn’t a terrible thing.

OnCLIMATE CHANGE

I think the planet is getting warmer. And I think that there could be a conscious effort by society to improve our habits. I’ve spent a lot of my life in Los Angeles and near the beach. That experience has shown me the importance of our carbon footprint, but beyond that, I’m far from a scientist.

OnIMPORTANCE OF POLITICS

I think politics are unavoidable. People will always fighting for positions of leadership. The most important thing is just keeping people outside of your demographic in mind when making political decisions.

OnTECHNOLOGY

I grew up in a family of medicine, so seeing how it can save lives has really changed my perspective on technology. Of course, like anything, there are negatives to its growth. But, the wonders of technology have allowed millions of people to live much healthier lives.

OnVIDEO GAMES

I play A TON of sports video games. Life can move so fast sometimes, playing video games with my homies can feel so relaxing. My 2k NBA My player is currently at a 98 rating and is a two-time MVP. Does that answer your question?

OnIMPORTANCE OF PERSONAL STYLE

As much as I try to really own a look, I can’t really say I’m a fashion guru. In acting, I’ve enjoyed the chance to try on different costumes and looks. But, I might have to point to my baby brother, Cole, on this one… he gives me all the style. He’s got a shoe collection that can compete with anyone.

OnCULTURAL DIVERSITY

Every person has an natural responsibility to explore cultures outside of their own. I think sports and music are fascinating in this sense, because they could be the two greatest common denominators in the world. No matter what city or country I am in, you can connect with the people through sports and music. When I am in a music studio, I see people from all walks of life. The same is said for when I played sports. Since getting into acting in the last few years, I’ve had the chance to visit and explore other parts of the world that I normally would not have had the chance to. It is one of the coolest parts of what we do.
