RISING UK SINGER TYSON
PROVES SHE’S AN ARTIST TO WATCH WITH
DEBUT EP PISCES PROBLEMS
Fast rising Swedish-UK star TYSON releases her anticipated debut EP, Pisces Problems via LMP Recordings. Following the success of singles “Red Handed” and “Tuesday,” the 5-track EP was paired with a stunning video directed by BAFTA-nominated Akinola Davies, in which TYSON soars through the London skies on a giant pink dragon.
TYSON’s natural talent and uncompromising sense of self are heard throughout the five tracks on the EP, which were produced by childhood pal Oscar Scheller (Miraa May, Lily Allen, Ashnikko) and mixed by Four Tet. “Tuesday” is poised to be a post-lockdown summer anthem, “Red Handed” is a cautionary tale of a scolded lover, “White” a woozy R&B anthem not too far from the sounds of Tirzah and Solange. The title track “Pisces Problems” is an anthemic proclamation for the tired introvert. The EP closes with “Chemicals“; a personal introspective where we hear TYSON’s dreamy vocal roll over Scheller’s percussive.
Pisces Problems has already gained support across the BBC from radio 1’s Annie Mac and Benji B, 1xtra’s Jamz Supernova, and 6 Music’s Gilles Peterson, as well as support from tastemakers DAZED and The Face.
At the heart of TYSON’s creative vision is community; she has self-released the EP on LMP Recordings, a new branch of collective Ladies Music Pub of which she co-founded with Hannah TW in 2015. Moreover, TYSON’s has drawn on her sister, the artist Naima Karlsson to collaborate with photographer Frank Lebon for the collaged EP artwork.
A rising star, TYSON is undoubtedly one to watch for 2021.
