“Rest In Peace”

—————————

On TILTED
The way you guys use the word “Tilted” is the way I’ve used the word “weird” for a long time. “Weird” is the word someone uses when they’re referring to someone doing something that they wouldn’t. Every person that you and I look up to are weird. Legends like Prince or Michael Jackson are the epitome of weird. As far as I’m concerned weird is a compliment. My view and way of thinking is different than yours. That should be celebrated.

On CREATIVITY
Art is a reflection of life. Your right brain gives you the power to digest your life in an easier way. It gives you the power to share your story with others in a way that you want it to be presented. Give 30 people the same creative assignment… draw a picture of a cloud. You’re going to get 30 unique clouds. No one’s art is the same because no one’s creative mind is quite the same. Everyone has something to contribute.

On FRIENDSHIP
Friendship to me is sacred. Doing what I do, to know there are people who will drop everything to be there for you is reassuring to say the least, and being that person for them is the best feeling. Friends becoming family is a special thing. My two best friends come to almost all of my family functions. Thanksgiving, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day… it’s all love.

On FAMILY
The people who sculpt you. The people who sacrifice every day for you. Who take pieces of themselves and place them with you. Family is the most important thing in my life. People ask me why I haven’t moved out of my childhood home yet… that’s your answer right there.

On SEXUAL FLUIDITY
It’s real. It was real before it was accepted here. It’s real even though it hasn’t been accepted everywhere. And it’s beautiful. So many people in my life have been with so many different types of people. And so many of them have found happiness in so many different places. Looking forward to our generation leading the charge to a more accepting society.

On FAITH
Faith means trust. A lot of people associate faith with religion, which is also a form of trust. But for me, faith is bigger than any one religion or any one belief. If you have faith you have the confidence that something is going to work out. But in order for something to work out you have to be the catalyst in making it happen. Action and faith together is when you can create something beautiful.

On GENDER EQUALITY
In 2018 it’s hard to believe sexism and racism are still at the forefront of our issues in society. Gender equality should be the last thing we’re thinking about because it should’ve already been resolved. However, because there is still a pay gap. Because there is a new influx of woman coming out with their own #metoo stories after Kavanaugh’s hearing. Because it seems we are going in the wrong direction at times. This issue should be one of the first things on our minds.

On RACIAL FLUIDITY
Racial fluidity is a complicated subject. It’s a topic that will be talked about more and more. It’s unfortunate that we can’t all just identify as humans. Labels bring so called “order” to our society. In certain cases it’s hard for me to justify. For example if a white person identifies as black, I guess no one can stop them from feeling that way. However they won’t be subject to the profiling, or racism of someone who is black. I actually AM black, but because 99% of society probably sees me as white I haven’t experienced the things people in my own family have.

On SOCIAL MEDIA
A sharp double edged sword. My advice, use it to get ahead. If you’re not using it for business, use it sparingly. I don’t think we are truly processing all of the negative effects of social media especially for people my age. The time it takes away from progress and the psychological toll it takes on children… unplug from social media to unplug from all of those voices in your head.

On CLIMATE CHANGE
It’s infuriating that greed has kept us from sustaining our world the way we know it. For those who care about the conditions of our planet for our grandchildren we all have to band together and make a difference, regardless of how much help we get from Washington.

On IMPORTANCE OF POLITICS
Right now an understanding of politics is crucial. The division in America today is evident and politicians have a huge role in that. All I can say is I hope moving forward the pendulum swings towards unity and progression.

On TECHNOLOGY
Technology has a way of connecting everyone and disconnecting everyone at the same time.
I enjoy talking to older people about technology. They always talk about skills you had to know back then, are now replaced by the robot that does it for you. Can’t wait to talk about a primitive iPhone to my bored kids.

On VIDEO GAMES
I used to play more. At this point I play 2k about once a month, if that. With Lebron being on the Lakers I’ve been playing a bit more.

On IMPORTANCE OF PERSONAL STYLE
Your style tells people who you are without even introducing yourself. That’s why you won’t catch me following all the trends. We all like what we like, and those who are willing to show that side of them, without the fear of someone not liking it, are the ones who are the most stylish.

On CULTURAL DIVERSITY
Diversity is one of the greatest forces of love. We are all born open minded and when a child is around all skin tones and cultures, they always grow more accepting. Representation in my line of work is important. Representation in positions of power is important. When people see more than one color, both where they find entertainment and in their lives, their way of thinking and views towards others comes from a different place.

My nephews and nieces grew up watching Cameron on screen. He was a joy to watch and I am so thankful that they were able to see someone who looked like them. Often times we would joke with my nephew Blake that his twin Cameron was on. We are so saddened to hear of his death. He was a beautiful kind soul who was an an amazing light and beautiful angel on earth. May peace be with his family, friends and all those who had the joy of knowing him.
