Emery On…
On FRIENDSHIP
Friends are important for all of us. Sometimes your friends can make the right decision for you when you can’t, and that’s okay because true friends look out for your best interests.
On FAMILY
Family is key. Keep your family strong and tight. Always. Family is key.
On GENDER EQUALITY
All people are human beings and deserve to be treated how they want to be treated. Be who you want to be through positivity! Love All.
On RACIAL FLUIDITY
What does that mean? I feel like the outward appearance of our features doesn’t matter if we all come from the same race. We are human beings. Love All.
On SOCIAL MEDIA
Social media is a powerful medium where you can create opportunities for yourself in basically any industry, but I also feel like sometimes it can be dangerous for the mind and unhealthy for you. Manage your time on social media. I wouldn’t use it all the time.
On CLIMATE CHANGE
I’m not a scientist who understands everything when it comes to climate change. But I do believe that the term “cause and effect” is a real thing. And I feel like if we keep cutting trees, if we keep pouring waste/plastic into our oceans, if we keep fracking oil from the ground, and the list goes on. At some point in time, our planet will have an effect that could possibly change the way we live our everyday lives. My good friend Cooper once told me: “There’s never a bad time to start helping the world.”
On TECHNOLOGY
I love technology, and I’m not a technician, but I feel we must create more technology that will be beneficial to saving and preserving our planet for future generations. Not technology that only benefits the human race.
On IMPORTANCE OF PERSONAL STYLE
Feel what you wanna wear and wear what you wanna feel.
——————————————————————————————————————–
From being a band to going solo, what was the biggest challenge you faced? How did you overcome it?
The biggest challenge I faced was figuring out my sound. And the way I overcame it was listening to hours worth of different types of music, making dozens of tracks, and meeting new people in the music industry.
How did you feel when “The Answers” first came out?
I was very happy that I put it out, because it’s part of who I was in the time of figuring out my signature sound.
You star in the upcoming Disney series “Big Shot.” Tell us more about your role and experience on set.
I play Dylan in “Big Shot”! He’s a basketball player and is really good friends with Louise. When I was on set, it was so much fun! Before Covid, there were times after work I would hop on my skateboard and ride around the whole Paramount lot. Also during Covid, we still made the best of it and had a really good time staying safe and sanitized!
Share with us a time you failed and how it allowed you to become a better/stronger version of yourself.
I would say whenever I know I didn’t get a role I’ve auditioned for. I tell myself to keep moving forward and the right role will come when the right role comes. So Keep Going.
What do fashion and beauty mean to you? What makes something/someone beautiful to you?
Fashion and beauty are very important to me. I love clothes! F&B is one of the many creative ways to represent who you are and who you want to be in this world. It’s also something that bends our culture.
In our current world, there are still many things we must face and change. What do you believe is a way we can promote true change and acceptance?
True change comes from one’s self. And sometimes from the help of others. I feel like the best way we can promote it is to talk about it, and to start doing it in our daily lives, step by step.
If you could give one message to the world, what would it be?
Be Yourself, Love All, and Treat People With Appreciation & Kindness.
You are 10 years from now, looking back on your time as a young adult. What do you hope to have accomplished?
I hope to accomplish many things, but right now I’m not thinking about that. I’m enjoying every moment in my 20s. Here and now. I guess we’ll have to see what I accomplish in the future together!
